OPEL HEFNER MCKINNEY
 
SPRUCE PINE - Opel Hefner McKinney, 90, formerly of Hillcrest Circle, died 
Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at Brookside Rehabilitation and Care Center in 
Burnsvill. She was the daughter of the late Harris and Tessie Peterson 
Edwards, and wife of the late Walter Hefner and the late Howard McKinney. She 
was retired from Clinchfield Railroad, where she worked as a freight agent. 
She was a member of Central Baptist Church of Spruce Pine.

Survivors include a son, Gaylon Hefner of Prattville, Ala.; and a sister, Ruth 
Howell of Blue Ridge, Ga. 

Graveside services were held Friday in Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery. Chaplain 
Jerry Shelton officiated. Memorial donations may be made to Blue Ridge 
Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine or to Crossnore School. Webb Funeral Home in 
Spruce Pine assisted the family.
