RUTH MARIE MELTON 

ELIZABETHTON, TN - Ruth Marie Melton, 81, formerly of Bakersville, died 
Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007 at Brown County Hospital in Georgetown, Ohio. Born in 
Johnson City, Tenn., she was a daughter of the late John Wesley and Rebecca 
Greer Miller. She was a homemaker and member of Odom's Chapel Freewill Baptist 
Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol "Susie" Goode of Elizabethton, and 
Naomi Hoydal of Bethel, Ohio; two sons, Kenneth Melton of Newland, and Kevin 
Melton of Spruce Pine; a sister, Blanche Johnson of Mobile, Ala.; and six 
grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Henline-Hughes 
Funeral Home in Bakersville. The Rev. Steve Williams officiated. Burial was at 
2 p.m. Wednesday in Veterans National Cemetery in Johnson City. The family 
received friends from 5:30 p.m. until the service hour Tuesday at the funeral 
home. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. 
Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38103.
