LUZENE HARRELL MERCER 
 
TELFORD, FL - Luzene Harrell Mercer, 70, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007 at St. 
Luke's Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla. A native of the Buladean community of 
Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Edith Forbes 
Harrell. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Gene Harrell. She 
attended Limestone Freewill Baptist Church. She worked for ETWNC 
Transportation and Railroad for 20 years and retired from the Johnson City 
Power Board.

Survivors include her husband, Gene W. Mercer of the home; six sisters, 
Shirley Peterson of Limestone, Tenn., Ann Griffith of Relief, Leona Wiseman of 
Johnson City, Tenn., Doris Hobson of Marion, Eloise Wood of Florida, and 
Arthelia Reed of Buladean; four brothers, J.M. Harrell of Telford, and Roger, 
Boyd, and Freddie Harrell, all of Buladean; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Friday at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home in 
Jonesborough, Tenn. The Rev. David Reece officiated. Burial was at 11 a.m. 
Saturday in Washington County Memory Gardens. The family received friends from 
5 p.m. until the service hour Friday at the funeral home.
