MELBA YOUNG MILLER 

SPRUCE PINE - Melba Young Miller, 82, of the Estatoe community, died Monday, 
Aug. 7, 2006 at her home. She was the daughter of the late George and Cordie 
Love Young, and wife of the late Howard Miller. She was also preceded in death 
by a brother, Finley Love. She was retired from Ellens Knitting Mill and was a 
member of Bear Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include five daughters, Joyce Stamey, Janise Strange and Jeanette 
Letterman, all of Shelby, Joann Frye of Hickory, and Judy Hughes of Spruce 
Pine; two sons, George and Guy Miller, both of Spruce Pine; brothers, Ray and 
Jack Young, both of Spruce Pine; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bear Creek Baptist Church. 
The Rev. Chris Rathbone officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery. 
The family received friends from noon until the service at the church. Webb 
Funeral Home in Spruce Pine was in charge of arrangements.
