MITCHELL COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Gilbert McGee, 24 May 2005

BAKERSVILLE - Gilbert McGee, 77, of the Bear Creek community, died Tuesday,
May 24, 2005 in Spruce Pine Community Hospital. He was the son of the late
Kelly and Maude Gillespie McGee. He was also preceded in death by two
brothers, Clifford and Wilbur McGee. A member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church,
he was a retired auto mechanic and had worked for 45 years for Chevrolet
dealerships in Spruce Pine.

Survivors include his wife, Azalene Pitman McGee of the home; a son, Dennie
McGee of Bakersville; one sister, Ruth Williams of Spruce Pine; three
brothers, Eddie McGee of Spruce Pine, Earl McGee of Burnsville, and Luther
McGee of Columbus, IN; and four grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at Bear Creek Baptist Church.
Revs. Chris Rathbone, Max Holland and Larry Greene officiated. Burial was in
the church cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at
Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Memorial donations may be made to Bear Creek
Baptist Church, 327 Bear Creek Church Road, Bakersville, NC 28705; or Hospice
of Mitchell County, P.O. Box 38, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
