MITCHELL COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Hollis McKinney, 24 Feb 2003 ----¤¤¤¤---- HOLLIS MCKINNEY BAKERSVILLE - Hollis McKinney, 70, of the Cub Creek Community, died Monday, Feb. 24, 2003 at his homein Pennsylvania. A native of Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Mac and Love Gardner McKinney. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Fred McKinney; and one sister, Nattie Lee McKinney. He owned many carwashes and was a member of Victory Freewill Baptist Church in Hanover, PA. Survivors include his wife, Lois Sparks McKinney of the home; one son, Hollis McKinney Jr. of Berlin, PA; one daughter, Sharron Moore of Stovertown, PA; one sister, Mattie Lee Campbell of Bakersville; one brother, Jack McKinney of Yorktown, VA; 13 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Henline- Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville. Greg Thomas officiated. Burial followed in the McKinney-Greene Cemetery. The family received friends from 11 a.m. until the service hour at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 924 N.
