SAMUEL M. MCKINNEY

NEWPORT NEWS - Samuel M. McKinney, 89, formerly of Bakersville, died 
Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, 
where he was on the Board of Deacons and was named a Lifetime Deacon. 
He was a retired security guard for Newport News Shipbuilding. He was 
preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite G. McKinney.
Survivors include three nephews, George Wilson of Bakersville, and 
Danny and Chris McKinney, both of Kingsport, TN.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Tabernacle Baptist 
Church. Rev. Weston Taylor and Dr. Fred King officiated. Graveside 
services were conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Bakersville Memorial 
Cemetery, with Rev. Billy Stewart officiating.
