MITCHELL COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Lewis Parnell McKinney, 3 Aug 2004

MARION - Lewis Parnell McKinney, 78, a native of Mitchell County, 
died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004 at his home. He was the son of the late 
Reuben and Hassie Childers McKinney. He was also preceded in death 
by a grandson, Christopher Yelton. He worked for Air Preheater and 
attended Fork Mountain Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Elva Hughes McKinney of the home; a 
daughter, Kathy M. Yelton of Bakersville; sons, Marvin McKinney of 
Newton, and Jerry McKinney of Bakersville; sisters, Ella Mae Hobson 
of Bakersville, and Irene McKinney of Newton; and five grandchildren. 
Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of 
Henline-Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville. Revs. Ronnie Gouge and 
Raymond Wilson officiated. Burial was at 11 a.m. Friday in McKinney 
Cemetery on Delpha Road. The family received friends from 7 p.m. until 
the service hour at the funeral home.
