MITCHELL COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Pearl B. McLain, 24 Dec 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Pearl B. McLain, 90, formerly of Johnson City and Roan Mountain, died Wednesday, December 24, 2003, at Cannon Memorial Hospital, Linville, N.C., after a brief illness. Mrs. McLain was a native of and grew up in Mitchell County, Tenn. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Lilly Peterson Butler; her husband, Garnatt McLain; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marjorie and Norman Baumgardner and Edna and Ed Boulay; and by a brother and two sisters. Mrs. McLain had worked for North American Rayon Corporation and in jewelry sales. She had attended Westerly Heights Baptist Church. Survivors include a grandson, Butch Baumgardner, Roan Mountain, and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, December 29, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Friends may call at the home of Mary Odom and Butch Baumgardner, Hampton Creek Road, Roan Mountain.
