LEWIS MCCLELLAN
SPRUCE PINE - Lewis R. McClellan Jr., 86, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002 
in an Asheville hospital. He was the son of the late Lewis R. and Dovie 
Pittman McClellan Sr. A U.S. Army veteran of WWII, he was also preceded 
in death by seven sisters and one brother. He was a member of Pine 
Branch Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Lewis Robert McClellan of Black Mountain; 
two daughters, Deborah Wise of Marion and Derenda Laws of Ingalls; 
two sisters, Nettie McClellan and Bertie Shipman, both of Spruce Pine; 
nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and several nieces and 
nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pine Branch Baptist 
Church. Rev. Steve Williams officiated. Burial was in Pine Branch 
Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. 
Tuesday at Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine.
