VERNIE JONES MONROE 

SPRUCE PINE – Vernie Jones Monroe, 84, of the Pine Branch community, died 
Friday, March 30, 2001 in Spruce Pine Community Hospital. A native of Unicoi, 
TN, she was the daughter of the late Elbert and Cora Smith Jones. She was also 
preceded in death by two husbands, Barnett O. Revis and William H. Monroe; two 
sons, Horace and Jerry Revis; a daughter, Carolyn Huffman; and a 
granddaughter, Barbara Pearson. 

Survivors include four daughters, Willie Mae Monroe, Kathy Heaton, Mary 
Pearson and Ann Hughes, all of Spruce Pine; a son, Bill Revis of Morganton; 19 
grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Grindstaff Memorial Chapel 
of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Rev. Steve Williams and Elders Don Heaton 
and Ralph McKinney officiated. Burial was in Phillips Cemetery. The family 
received friends from 12 noon until the service hour.
