MITCHELL COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Homer William Murdock, 27 Sep 2002 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- HOMER WILLIAM MURDOCK ST. PAULS - Homer William Murdock, 78, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center. A Baptist minister, he was a Navy Seal while in the military. He was a member of the Spruce Pine Masonic Lodge #554 and on the Board of Directors for the Tobemory VFD. He was chairman of the deacons at Tolarsville Baptist Church in St. Pauls. Survivors include his wife, Carol Musselwhite Murdock of the home; three sons, Homer Murdock Jr. of Morganton, Robert Lee Murdock of Flushing, MI, and Albert E. Murdock of Longview, TX; three stepsons, David Musselwhite of St. Pauls, Wesley Musselwhite of Garner, and Rodney Musselwhite of Morrisville; one brother, John E. Murdock of Hendersonville; and two sisters, Frona Carroll of Hendersonville, and Mary Belle Barnett of Elkton, MD. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at Tolarsville Baptist Church. Revs. Jeff Broadwell and Steve Williams officiated. Burial was at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Pine Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
