DOROTHY HALL OWENS 

SPRUCE PINE - Dorothy Hall Owens, 87, of Dula Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 
2005 in Spruce Pine Community Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Adrian 
and Hattie Hollifield Hall. She was also preceded in death by a son, Delmar 
Owens, and two infant children. A member of Grassy Creek Baptist Church, she 
was retired from Ellen Kintting Mills and Baxter Healthcare.

Survivors include her daughters, Laura Lassiter of Elba, AL, and Brenda Watson 
and Jean Buchanan, both of Spruce Pine; one son, Joe Owens of Spruce Pine; 15 
grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grassy Creek Baptist Church. 
Rev. Matt Mills officiated. Burial was in Grassy Creek Cemetery. The family 
received friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Henline-Hughes Funeral Home in 
Bakersville. Memorial donations may be made to Grassy Creek Baptist Family Life 
Center, 793 Old 226 Highway, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
