MITCHELL COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - James Bruce Ollis, 27 Oct 2003 ----¤¤¤¤---- JAMES BRUCE OLLIS LAURINBURG - James Bruce Ollis, 69, formerly of the Ingalls community, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2003 in a Davie County hospital. He was the son of the late Bruce Pike and Zola Houston Ollis. He was a former high school coach, as well as Jaycee state president and US Jaycee and World JCI vice presidents. He served on the Board of Trustees of the North Carolina Community College System, the Ports Authority, Film Commission and Economic Development Commission. He was an employee of Mass Mutual Life Insurance. Survivors include his daughter, Kimberly Jean Williamson of Chicago, IL; sons, James Bruce Ollis Jr. of Columbus, and William Ronald Ollis of College Station, TX; sisters, Joyce Lawing of Lenoir and Judy Ollis of Charlotte; brothers, Jack Ollis of Canton, GA, Joe Ollis of Salisbury, Jerry Ollis of Marion, Rev. Jock Ollis of Greensboro, and John Ollis of Asheville; and six grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Grindstaff Memorial Chapel of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Rev. Jock Ollis officiated.
