He was the son of the late Frank and Myrtle Sparks Parker. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Juanita Cox; brothers, Dayton and Donald Parker; and two infant brothers. He was self- employed in the timber business and was a member of Red Hill Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Juanita Parker of the home; a son, James Parker of Jonesborough, Tenn.; daughters, Jeanine Parker of Miami, Fla., and Joanna Spencer of Midland; sisters, Shelby Jean Cornwell of Maiden, Marilene Ledford of Conover, Billie Jo Deyton of Burnsville, and Helen Hughes of Bakersville; brothers, Smith Parker of Bakersville, and Wayne Parker of Burnsville; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville. Bruce Woody officiated. Burial was at 2 p.m. Sunday in Red Hill Methodist Cemetery. The family received friends from 6 p.m. until the service hour Saturday at the funeral home.
