MARGARET PENDLEY 

SPRUCE PINE - Margaret Pendley, 82, of Forest Hill Drive, died Thursday, Sept. 
1, 2005 in Spruce Pine Community Hospital. She was the daughter of the late 
James Earl and Lessie Debruhl Rumbough. A member of Spruce Pine United 
Methodist Church, she was also a member of Spruce Pine Chapter 27 Order of the 
Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband, David Pendley of the home; daughters, Sarah King 
of Flat Rock, and Jane Hooper of Gastonia; sisters, Flora Dale McKee of 
Gaithersburg, MD, and Lillian Vrtiak of Greenwich, CT; three grandchildren and 
two great grandchildren. 
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Spruce Pine United Methodist 
Church. Rev. Lynda Briggs officiated. The family received friends following the 
service. Funeral rites were conducted by Spruce Pine Chapter 27 Order of the 
Eastern Star. Memorial donations may be made to Spruce Pine United Methodist 
Church.
