LONNIE PETERSON 

GREEN MOUNTAIN - Lonnie Peterson, 71, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005 at Erwin 
Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late Manuel and Jenny Bennett 
Peterson. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Peterson 
Edwards. He was a farmer and an employee of Buck Stove Corporation. He was a 
member of Poplar Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Honeycutt Peterson of the home; two 
daughters, Connie Pitman and Holly Boone, both of Bakersville; two sons, Lloyd 
Peterson of Marion, and Rev. Junior Peterson of Burnsville; two brothers, 
Robert and Troy Peterson, both of Green Mountain; three sisters, Lucille 
Peterson of Bakersville, Jane Booth of Jonesborough, TN, and Martha Murphy of 
Green Mountain; and nine grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Henline-Hughes 
Funeral Home in Bakersville. Revs. Buck Watson and Jerry Barnett officiated. 
Burial was at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Union Hill Cemetery. The family received 
friends from 6 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home. Memorial 
donations may be made to Memorial Bible Chairman, Gideons International, 
Mitchell County Camp, P.O. Box 614, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
