WILLIE MAE PHILLIPS 
SPRUCE PINE - Willie Mae (Mama Bill) Phillips, 89, died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2005 
in Spruce Pine Community Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Barney and 
Nan Jarrett Huskins, and wife of the late John Phillips. She was also preceded 
in death by a grandson, Richard Phillips. She was a member of Mt. Carmel 
Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sons, Jim, Tommy and Jerry Phillips, all of Spruce Pine; 
10 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services were held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Grindstaff Memorial 
Chapel of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Revs. David Vess and Chris Davis 
officiated. Burial was at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Lily Branch Cemetery. The family 
received friends from 6 p.m. until the service hour Tuesday at the funeral 
home. Memorial donations may be made to Mitchell County Heating and Fuel Fund, 
c/o First Baptist Church, 125 Tappan Street, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
