JOYCE MCKINNEY PITMAN 

BAKERSVILLE - Joyce McKinney Pitman, 81, of Saylors Lake Road, died Friday, 
June 9, 2006. She was the daughter of the late Will and Mollie Ledford. She 
was retired as a secretary with the Mitchell County School System. She was a 
member of Bakersville Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Pitman of the home; a daughter, Janie P. 
Gibson of Blacksburg, SC; two sisters, Billie Miller of Albany, GA, and Eloise 
Yoder of Canton, OH; two granddaughters; and three great grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bakersville Baptist Church. 
Rev. Billy Stewart officiated. Burial followed in Pine Branch Cemetery in 
Spruce Pine. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Henline-
Hughes in Bakersville. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Mitchell 
County, P.O. Box 38, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
