CARRIE MCKINNEY PITMAN 

BAKERSVILLE - Carrie M. Pitman, 86, of Cane Creek Road, died Friday, Dec. 2, 
2005 in an Asheville hospital. She was the daughter of the late Jess and Martha 
Ledford McKinney, and wife of the late Bill Pitman. She was also preceded in 
death by one son, Kenneth Pitman, and one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Pitman. She 
was a member of Cane Creek Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Jerry and Billy Pitman, both of Bakersville, and 
Tim Pitman of Chandler; three sisters, Ruby Edwards of Spruce Pine, Faye Slagle 
of Bakersville, and Margie Futrell of Hearmon, TN; eight grandchildren; seven 
great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Henline-Hughes 
Funeral Home in Bakersville. Revs. Marvin Henley and Gerald Grindstaff 
officiated. Burial followed in Cane Creek Freewill Church cemetery. The family 
received friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour Sunday at the funeral home.
