HAZEL SANDY PITTMAN STEWART 

BAKERSVILLE - Hazel Sandy Pittman Stewart, 71, of Slagle Road, died Saturday, 
Aug. 20, 2005. She was the daughter of the late Weldon and Nell Stewart 
Pittman. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Johnny Wayne Pittman. 
She was a former member of Bear Creek Baptist Church, and a currentmember of 
Bakersville Baptist Church, where she was a member of the church choir and 
Fidelis Sunday School Class.

Survivors include two daughters, Cindy Moretz of Linville Falls; and Diane 
Meteyard of Lexington, KY; one son, Rev. Billy Stewart of Spruce Pine; a 
sister, Patsy Barrier Phillips of Bakersville; two brothers, Gerald Pittman of 
Burnsville and Norris Pittman of Marion; 13 grandchildrenp; and two great 
grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Bakersville Baptist Church. 
Rev. Billy Stewart officiated. Burial was in Bear Creek Cemetery. The family 
received friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour at the church. Henline-
Hughes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be 
made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.Box 102454, Atlanta, GA 30368; or the 
Bakersville Baptist Church Organ Fund, P.O. Box 2, Bakersville, NC 28705.
