BERNICE LEDFORD PUTMAN 

BAKERSVILLE - Bernice Ledford Putman, 92, of Bowman Road, died Saturday, Feb. 
2, 2008 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Wash and Venia Greene 
Ledford, and wife of the late Halder Putman. She was also preceded in death by 
four sisters. She was a member of Big Rock Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Bobby Ray Putman of Jonesborough, Tenn., and 
Wade and J.H. Putman, both of Bakersville; three sisters, Myrtle Hetrick, 
Venie Payne and Lois Shuhart, all of Pennsylvania; two brothers, D.H. and 
Junior Ledford, both of Pennsylvania; three grandchildren; and six great-
grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Henline-Hughes 
Funeral Home in Bakersville. The Rev. G.B. Garland officiated. Burial was at 
11 a.m. Wednesday in Mosley Cemetery on Bowman Road. The family received 
friends from 6 p.m. until the service hour Tuesday at the funeral home.
