MITCHELL COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Edythe Hensley Phillips, 8 Jun 2002 EDYTHE HENSLEY PHILLIPS BAKERSVILLE – Edythe Hensley Phillips, 91, of John Canipe Road, died Saturday, June 8, 2002 at the Brian Center in Spruce Pine. She was the daughter of the late Marcus and Leah Adkins Hensley, and wife of the late Walter Arthur Phillips. A homemaker, she was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors include four daughters, Nellie Cole and Carol Gladden of Bakersville, Peggy McSwain of Catawba, and Polly Wilson of Marion; one son, James E. Phillips of Bostic; two sisters, Leah Little of Bristol, VA, and Loretta Welton of Burnsville; 29 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; and 14 great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville. Revs. Bob Simes and Bill Mitchell officiated. Burial followed in Slagle Cemetery. The family received friends from 1-3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
