BERNICE B. PITTMAN 

SPRUCE PINE – Bernice B. Pittman, 80, died Thursday, May 3, 2001. She was the 
daughter of the late Jess and Rosa Daniels Buchanan, and wife of the late Guy 
Newton Pittman. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Devault
Buchanan. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Spruce Pine. 
Survivors include her sons, Daniel Guy Pittman of Hendersonville, and David 
Ray Pittman of Roswell, GA; a daughter, Mary Buchanan of Hickory; a sister, 
Sue Young of Bakersville; four granddaughters; and two great great 
grandchildren. 
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Grindstaff Memorial 
Chapel of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Rev. David Vess officiated. burial 
was in Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery. The family received friends from 1 p.m. 
until the service hour at the funeral home.
