PAT GUY PITMAN

BAKERSVILLE - Pat Guy Pitman, 73, of the Ledger community, died 
Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002 in the VA hospital in Asheville. He was the 
son of the late Virgil and Rosie Buchanan Pitman. He was also 
preceded in death by one sister, Zella Dellinger. He was a member 
of Bear Creek Batpist Church and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean 
War. He was the owner/operator of Toe River Service Center in 
Spruce Pine.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Gouge Pitman of the home; one 
daughter, Nancy Willis of Bakersville; two sons, Kenneth and Daniel 
Pitman, both of Bakersville; one brother, Lee Pitman of Bakersville; 
four sisters, Lorene Gouge of Marion, Jennie Moore of Spruce Pine, 
and Azalene McGee and Oleta McGee, both of Bakersville; and four 
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Monday at Bear Creek Baptist 
Church. Revs. Chris Rathbone and Don Ford officiated. Graveside 
services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Bear Creek Baptist Church 
Cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. at the church. 
Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine was in charge of arrangements.
