RAY PITMAN

SPRUCE PINE - Ray Pitman, 77, of Beaver Creek Road, died Saturday, 
Jan. 25, 2003 in an Avery County hospital. He was the son of the late 
Waits and Minnie Pendley Pitman. He was also preceded in death by two 
brothers, Glenn and Jack Pitman; and two sisters, Louise Pendley and 
Elma Pitman. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and the 
Spruce Pine Moose Lodge.
Survivors include one son, Douglas Pitman of Spruce Pine; two sisters, 
Cathy Jones and Edna Burleson, both of Spruce Pine; one brother, Burl 
Pitman of Burnsville; and one grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Grindstaff Memorial 
Chapel of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Rev. Mike Brown officiated. 
Burial was in Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery. the family received 
friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
