She was the daughter of the late John Forbes and Elveline Moffitt. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Fred Beecher Harrell, and a son, Gene Harrell. She was a homemaker and a member of Big Rock Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include: seven daughters, Shirley Peterson of Limestone, TN, Luzene Mercer of Telford, TN, Ann Griffith of Green Mtn., TN, Doris Hopson of Marion, Eloise Wood of Lawety, FL, Arthelia Reid of Bakersville, and Leona Wiseman of Johnson City, TN; four sons, John Mills Harrell of Telford, TN, and Roger Harrell, Boyd Harrell, and Freddie Harrell of Bakersville; two brothers, Warren Forbes and Bernie Forbes; thirteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 23 at the Henline-Hughes Chapel. Rev. Ronnie Gouge officiated. Burial was at the Gouge Memorial Cemetery. Henline-Hughes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
