STEWART PETERSON

GREEN MOUNTAIN – Stewart Peterson, 85, of Pigeon Roost Road, died Wednesday, 
October 10, 2001, at Yancey Nursing Center. He was the son of the late Sam and 
Texie Gardner Peterson. He was also preceded in death by a son, Keith 
Peterson.  He was a pipefitter with Robert Filters Manufacturing.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Hughes Peterson of the home; two daughters, 
Jean P. Bennett, and Sharon P. Barnett, both of Green Mountain; two sons, 
Leonard Peterson of Rutherford, and Daniel Peterson of Fletcher; sister, Mary 
Presnell of Lexington; three brothers, Charles and Jonas Peterson, both of 
West Grove, PA, and Monroe Peterson of West Jefferson; five grand-daughters;
and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Henline-Hughes 
Funeral Home. Revs. Ronald Thomas and Joe Brown officiated. Burial followed in 
Byrd Cemetery. The family received friends from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
