J. E. PETERSON
GREEN MOUNTAIN – J. E. Peterson, 72, died Friday, April 12, 2002 at 
his home. He was the son of the late Clayton and Lassie Barnett Peterson. 
He was a press operator with General Motors and a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Barnett Peterson; daughter, Beverly 
Peterson of Green Mountain; two sons, Michael and Matthew Peterson, both 
of Green Mountain; two brothers, Mack and Walt Peterson, both of Green 
Mountain; six sisters, Maxie Bennett and Ann Osborn both of Erwin, TN, 
Janie Jones, Nora McCurry and Donna Briggs, all of Green Mountain, and 
Elvie Bennett of Honey Brook, PA; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Henline-
Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville. Revs. Marvin Miller and Joe Brown 
officiated. Burial followed in Tipton-Griffith Cemetery. The family 
received friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour Monday at the funeral 
home.
