EVELYN BENNETT RAY 

GREEN MOUNTAIN - Evelyn Bennett Ray, 87, of Pigeon Roost Road, died Saturday, 
Oct. 21, 2006 at Brookside Rehabilitation and Care in Burnsville. She was the 
daughter of the late Sam and Nettie Edwards Bennett, and wife of the late 
Blaine Ray. She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Glen, Jack, 
James, Ray, and Jr. Bennett.

Survivors include a daughter, Ima Jean Allen of Burnsville; three brothers, 
Lee, Clay and Bill Bennett; sisters, Betty Honeycutt and Jerrie Whitson; one 
granddaughter; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Henline-Hughes 
Funeral Home in Bakersville. The Rev. Jeff Goudelock officiated. Burial was at 
11 a.m. Tuesday in Bennett Cemetery on Pigeon Roost Road. The family received 
friends from 6 p.m. until the service hour Monday at the funeral home. 
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Yancey County, 314 West Main 
Street, Burnsville, NC 28714; or to Brookside Rehabilitation and Care, 310 
Pensacola Road, Burnsville, NC 28714.
