HOWARD RHYNE 

JONESBOROUGH, TN - Howard Rhyne, 83, of Treadway Trail, died Friday, Nov. 2, 
2007 at NHC Healthcare. A native of Spruce Pine, he was the son of the late 
Thomas and Hattie Buchanan Rhyne, and the husband of the late Lela Rhyne. He 
was also preceded in death by a brother, William Rhyne. He was a carpenter and 
a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was a member of Mine Creek Baptist Church and 
attended Nolichucky Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Sarah Ann Conner of Orlando, Fla., Mary 
Carolyn Murdock of Newland, and Debra Odom of Jonesborough; two sisters, Hope 
Bennett of Castleberry, Fla., and Phyllis Todd of Cusseta, Ga.; a brother, 
Earnest Rhyne of Gastonia; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and 
one great-great-granddaughter. 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the East Chapel of Appalachian 
Funeral Home. The Rev. Joey Murdock officiated. Entombment followed in 
Roselawn Memory Gardens. The family received friends from noon until the 
service hour Monday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to 
Shriners' Children's Hospital or Washington County Humane Society.
