Rose, 78, formerly of Mitchell County, died Sunday, May 26, 2002 in an Asheville Hospice Center. He was the son of the late Baird Rose and Alice McClellan Rose, and stepson of the late Charlie Rose. He was also preceded in death by one brother, William Rose. He was owner of Fun Wheels Gran Prix in Asheville and a member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Spruce Pine. Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Goins Rose of the home; one son, J.D. Rose of Asheville; two daughters, Pat Young of Asheville, and Wanda Leatherwood of Waynesville; and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Grindstaff Memorial Chapel of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Rev.Johnny Willis officiated. Burial was in Yellow Mountain Cemetery. The family received friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
