HELEN RUTH ROSE
SPRUCE PINE - Helen Ruth Rose, 90, of Phillips Lane, died Monday, Sept. 
9, 2002 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Paul Alexander and 
Myrtle Elizabeth Weatherman Rose. She was also preceded in death by a 
sister, Edna Wilson; and two brothers, Lamar A. and James W. Rose. A 
Mitchell County Public School teacher for 44 years, she had taught at 
Ledger, Sunshine and Harris Elementary. She was a member of Spruce Pine 
United Methodist Church and the N.C. Association of Educators.
Survivors include her sisters, Ethel E. Rose of the home, and Mable 
Whiton of Spruce Pine; three nieces; three nephews, and numerous great 
nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services were held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Grindstaff 
Memorial Chapel of Webb Funeral Home. Burial was at 11 a.m. Thursday in 
Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery. The family received friends from 4:30 
p.m. until the service hour Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial 
donations may be made to Hospice of Mitchell County, P.O. Box 38, Spruce 
Pine, NC 28777.
