MITCHELL COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Dora Rose, 26 Sep 2003 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Dora Rose On September 26, 2003, God was watching over all his children when his eyes fell upon Sister Dora Rose in her home near Unicoi, Tennessee. God's merciful and loving heart was touched as he looked upon his faithful servant crippled with arthritis and suffering in pain. Therefore, God dispatched an angel to wipe away her tears and bring Dora to her heavenly home. Dora was born in Buladean, N.C., February 24, 1927. Her parents, the late Charlie and Martha Birchfield, raised 10 children: Leonard, Vergie Clark, Dora, F.D., G.W., Margie Wilson, Bobby, Charles, Hazel Watson and Doris Boone. As a young lady, Dora worked at the pottery in Erwin and the telephone company in Johnson City, but she dedicated most of her life to helping others and raising her family. Dora worked alongside her husband, the late Rev. Roy Rose as he was pastor of several local Free Will Baptist churches. Dora was a loving and faithful wife for over 33 years. Roy went on to glory in 1985. Dora truly loved her three sons, Kenneth and Alan Rose, Unicoi, Tennessee, and Bill Rose, Neptune, New Jersey. For many, many years, she was not able to go on vacations, cook Sunday dinner for the family or even go on a picnic with her sons. However, she taught them by example to appreciate every day, to be thankful for God's daily blessings, to love God, to love your family and to trust Jesus as your personal savior. God blessed her with five wonderful grandchildren, whom she dearly loved: Daniel, Mitchell, Cameron, Brooke and Hunter Rose, who will miss her until that great family reunion in Heaven. Dora will not be remembered in history books. She will never be recognized as a great leader or businesswoman. Dora will soon be forgotten by many. However, she will be missed by her family, her church family at Valley Forge Free Will Baptist and her special friends Josephine Blevins, Alice Miller, Michelle Hill and Bettina LaVoie, who have for many years lovingly cared for Dora. Today she is no longer suffering. She is not bedridden. She needs no more medication, and she has made her last visit to the hospital. So when you think of Dora, do not think of her as a cripple. Just visualize her with a brand new body walking, maybe running, down the golden street of Heaven. Think of her waiting for us in glory and resting at peace in the arms of Jesus and think of the reunion we will have. When you reach heaven, look for Dora praising God in the everlasting joys of Heaven. We love you, Mom.
