BERTIE LUCINDA SHIPMAN

SPRUCE PINE - Bertie Lucinda Shipman, 96, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 
2002 in a Spruce Pine rest home. She was the daughter of the late 
Dovie Pitman. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Lewis 
McClellan. She was a charter member of Pine Branch Baptist Church 
and of the Pine Branch Quilters.
Survivors include her daughters, Inez Cox of Vansant, VA, Audrey 
Boston of Spruce Pine, June Nichols of North Palm Beach, FL, and 
Libby Pratt of Winter Haven, FL; sister, Nettie McClellan of Spruce 
Pine; nine grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and four great 
great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at Pine Branch Baptist 
Church. Revs. Steve Williams and David Johnson officiated. Burial 
was in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 1 p.m. 
until the service hour at the church. Memorial donations may be made 
to Hospice of Mitchell County, P.O. Box 38, Spruce Pine, NC 28777. 
Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine was in charge of arrangements
