FERN OPAL BIDDIX SHEPPARD
SPRUCE PINE – Fern Opal Biddix Sheppard, 72, of Laurel Creek Court, 
died Friday, April 12, 2002 in Spruce Pine Community Hospital, following 
an extended illness. She was the daughter of the late James Avery and 
Lula Biddix, and wife of the late Vernon Lee Sheppard. She was also 
preceded in death by brothers, Everett and Clarence Biddix, and a 
sister, Lessie Pittman.
Survivors include daughters, Nancy Tedder of Kenly, Debbie Wilson of 
Dallas, Genelle Proctor of Blacksburg, SC, and E’Shellah Denton of 
Sharon, SC; a sister, Eileen Yelton of Gastonia; six grandchildren; 
and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Greene Funeal Service 
in Gastonia. Rev. Rocky Branch officiated. Burial was in Gaston Memorial 
Park. The family received friends from 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral 
home. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Mitchell County, P.O.
