RAY EDWARD SILVER
BAKERSVILLE - Ray Edward Silver, 85, died Friday, August 2, 2002 
at his home. He was the son of the late Cleve and Mamie Buchanan 
Silver. He was employed by Harris Mining company and a member of 
Silver Chapel Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Rosa Whitson Silver of the home; 
daughters, Patricia Ollis of spruce Pine, and Kathy Tipton of 
Charleston, SC; sisters, Revia Buchanan of Spruce Pine and Bernice 
Howell of Bakersville; brothers, Howard and Claude Silver of 
Bakersville, and Charles Silver of Marion; three grandchildren; and 
five great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of 
Henline-Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville. Revs. Mark McKinney and 
J.J. Orr officiated. burial followed in Silver Chapel Cemetery. 
The family received friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday.
