MITCHELL COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - George Beauford Smith, 7 Mar 2005

SPRUCE PINE - George Beauford Smith, 76, of Smith Road, died Monday, March 7,
2005 in Spruce Pine Community Hospital. He was the son of the late George
Avery (Todd) and Ora Lee Woody Smith. He was also preceded in death by two
sons, Larry Van and Chris Smith; and a brother, Carl Smith. He taught at
Mayland Community College for 21 years and was a member of Pine Branch Baptist
Church.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Sparks Smith of the home; a daughter,
Debbie Morris of Spruce Pine; sisters, Gladys Hefner of Valdese, Beulah
Blalock of Micaville; and Lila Baskin and Lena Love, both of Spruce Pine;
brothers, Bobbie and Louie Smith, both of Bakersville; seven grandchildren;
and three great grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pine Branch Baptist Church.
Revs. Steve Williams and Andy Willis officiated. Burial was in the church
cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Webb Funeral
Home in Spruce Pine.
