She was the daughter of the late Elias Franklin and Mary Ann Johnson Vines, and wife of the late Doby Stafford. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Ruby Stafford; sisters, Jane Harmon and Naomi Brown; and brothers, Jim, Roby, Roy and Clayton Vines. A member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, she was retired from Ellens Knitting Mill. Survivors include her daughter, Edna Duncan of Spruce Pine; a son, Doby Stafford Jr. of Spruce Pine; sisters, Annie Brown and Laura Cook, both of Boone, and Hattie Vines of Charlotte; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Revs. Harold Grindstaff, Ralph Hedrick, R.M. Cassity and Greg Hollifield officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.
