NORMAN EDWARD STAMEY

SPRUCE PINE - Norman Edward Stamey, 66, of Patty Lane, died 
Monday, Oct. 20, 2003 at his home. A native of Burke County, 
he was the son of the late Roy and Violet Holden Stamey, and 
husband of the late Thelma Thompson Stamey. He was employed 
by the Avery County School System as a custodian.
Survivors include his daughters, Norma Jean Parker of Newland, 
June Stamey of Spruce Pine, and Geraldine Young of Burnsville; 
a son, David Stamey of Spruce Pine; brothers, Lee Stamey of 
Charlotte, Wade Stamey of Morganton, Carlos Stamey of Spruce 
Pine, and Dale Stamey of Elk Park; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Grandfather 
Chapel of Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. Rev. Barry Sheppard 
officiated. Graveside services and burial followed in the Church 
of Jesus Christ Cemetery. The family received friends from 7-9 
p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
