MITCHELL COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Ralph Street, 14 Mar 2003 ----¤¤¤¤---- Ralph Street Ralph Street, 74, Franklin Place Drive, Apt. Elizabethton, died Friday, March 14, 2003, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Mr. Street was a native of Mitchell County, N.C., and a son of the late Rexter and Minervia Troutman. He was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Mr. Street had lived most of his life in Elizabethton. He was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation and had served in the United States Army. He attended Harvest Baptist Church and had served as a volunteer at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Williams Street; two daughters and sons- in-law, Phyllis and Jim Dugger and Brenda and Danny Williams, all of Elizabethton; a sister, Maude Layne, Ringgold, Ga.; three grandchildren, Lori Barb, Lisa Causby and Darrin Laws; three step-grandchildren, Mandy Allen, Joy Cutter and Chris Williams; and three great-grandchildren, Tyler Price, Triston Causby and Tanner Barb. Two step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. STREET -- Funeral services for Ralph Street, 74, Franklin Place Drive, Elizabethton, who died Friday, March 14, 2003, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, March 17, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dale Greenwell and the Rev. Dallas Gregg officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Williams Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, will be Doug Estep, Mike Hicks, Lynn Estep, Bob Montgomery, Ronnie Street and Harold Presnell. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Todd Whitaker, Carl Cable, John Holsclaw, John Stanton, Leroy Johnson, Ray Griffey, Wendell Phillips, Jane Stanton and his nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at his residence. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Street to the Carter County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 776, Elizabethton, TN 37644.
