ETTA GARLAND STEVENS

BAKERSVILLE - Etta Garland Stevens, 92, of the Glen Ayre community, 
died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002 at the Brian Center in Spruce Pine. She 
was the daughter of Sewell and Nellie Blevins Garland, and wife of 
the late Floyd Stevens. She was also preceded in death by her sons, 
Fred and Ted Stevens. A homemaker, she was the oldest member of 
Little Rock Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Bonnie Miller of Bakersville, and 
Betty Buchanan of Spruce Pine; sister, Ollie Hoilman of Spruce Pine; 
nine grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and seven great great 
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of 
Henline-Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville. Revs. Wesley Dale, 
Larry Greene, Dallas Renfro, and Ronnie Gouge officiated. Burial 
followed in L.G. Gouge Memorial Cemetery. The family received 
friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
