ERVIN MARTIN THOMAS

MARION - Ervin Martin Thomas, 79, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003 in Yancey 
County. A native of Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Ransom 
Thomas and Mae Young Thomas. He was retired as a dietician with the VA 
hospital in Asheville.
Survivors include his wife, Iva Ruby Thomas of the home; a daughter, 
Gloria Burleson of Micaville; one stepson, Kenny Smith of Marion; a 
step-daughter, Kathy Jenkins of Marion; six grandchildren; and six great 
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Going Home Free Will 
Baptist Church. Rev. Jeff Duncan officiated. Burial followed in Zion Hill 
Cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Kirksey 
Funeral Home in Marion.
