JOHN CLAUDE TIPTON

GREEN MOUNTAIN - John Claude Tipton, 86, of the Tipton Hill community, 
died Thursday, Mar. 20, 2003 at his home. He was the son of the late 
N.W. and Louise McInturf Tipton. He was also preceded in death by a 
sister, Liz Garland; and six brothers, Charlie, Chris, Lonnie, Briscoe, 
Lamar and Edd Tipton. A retired farmer, he was a member of Tipton Hill 
Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jessie Young Tipton, of the home; a son, 
Douglas Tipton of Green Mountain; six grandchildren; and 11 great 
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Henline-
Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville. Revs. David Lee and Darrell Tipton 
officiated. Burial followed in Tipton Hill Cemetery. The family received 
friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour Saturday at the funeral home. 
Memorial donations may be made to Tipton Hill Methodist Church, 4453 
Hwy. 197, Green Mountain, NC 28704.
