DORIS WELD UNDERWOOD 

Doris Weld Underwood, 98, of Altamont, died Tuesday, April 10, 2007 in Cannon 
Memorial Hospital in Linville. She was the daughter of the late George and 
Candace Franklin Weld, and wife of the late George Badger Underwood Jr. She 
was also preceded in death by three brothers, Roy Lynn Weld, George Herman 
Weld, and Carl Franklin Arrowood; and three sisters, Vivian Weld Dellinger, 
Maude Arrowood Pyatte, and Nelle Arrowood Stroup. She was a member of Altamont 
United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one son, Badger Underwood of Altamont; one daughter, Sarah 
Singleton of Altamont; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Altamont United Methodist 
Church. Burial will be at a later date. The family received friends from 5 
p.m. until the service hour Thursday at the church. Memorial donations may be 
made to Altamont United Methodist Church. Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home of 
Newland assisted the family.
