RUTH D. UPHOLD 

SPRUCE PINE - Ruth Dale Uphold, 90, died Sunday, April 22, 2007 at her home. 
She was the daughter of the late Fred and Agnes Washburn Dale, and wife of the 
late Arthur Uphold Sr. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Jim, 
Bill and Guy Dale; and one sister, Evelyn Hobbs. She was retired from Tar Heel 
Mica, and was a member of the Junior Women's Club and the Professional Women's 
Club of Spruce Pine. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Spruce Pine, 
where she was a member of the WMU, taught the Sunday School Youth Department, 
and assisted with Acteens.

Survivors include a son, Arthur Uphold Jr. of Spruce Pine; and two brothers, 
David Dale of Bakersville, and Dan Dale of St. Helena Island, S.C. 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of 
Spruce Pine. Dr. David Vess and the Rev. Larry Greene officiated. Burial 
followed in Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery. The family received friends from 
12:30 p.m. until the service hour Wednesday at the church. Memorial donations 
may be made to Hospice of Mitchell County, P.O. Box 38, Spruce Pine, NC 28777. 
Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine assisted the family.
