MAUDE JOSEPHINE MCKINNEY VANCE

SPRUCE PINE - Maude Josephine McKinney Vance, 91, of Summer Hill 
Lane, died Thursday, March 20, 2003 in Spruce Pine Community Hospital. 
She was the daughter of the late Jess and Mattie McKinney, and wife 
of the late Virgil Vance. She was a charter member of Freedom Baptist 
Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Shirley Bishop and Betty Gallagher, 
both of Spruce Pine, and Carolyn Hall of Christiansburg, VA; sons, 
Bobby Vance of Harrisburg, Jerry Vance of Spruce Pine, and Danny Vance 
of Charleston, SC; five sisters; 16 grandchildren; 13 great 
grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Grindstaff Memorial 
Chapel of Webb Funeral Home. Revs. R.M. Cassity and David Troutman 
officiated. Burialwas in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. The family received friends 
from 1 p.m. until the service hour Saturday at the funeral home.
