LUCRETIA LEDFORD WARD 

BAKERSVILLE - Lucretia Ledford Ward, 91, of Cane Creek Road, died Sunday, March 
5, 2006 in Spruce Pine Community Hospital. She was the daughter of the late 
Reuben T. and Dovie Wise Ledford, and wife of the late Howard Ward. She was 
also preceded in death by a sister, Mae Rathbone; four brothers, Steve, Green, 
Lee and Earl Ledford; and one grandchild. A member of Faith Baptist Church, she 
was retired from the mica processing industry.

Survivors include two daughters, Cindy Buchanan of Bakersville, and Clarice 
Singleton of Newland; three sons, Bradley Ledford of Valdese, Albert Ward of 
Drexel, and Harold Ward of Bakersville; one sister, Lizzie Trantham of Nebo; 
one brother, Ted Ledford of Bakersville; 12 grandchildren; 14 great 
grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Henline-Hughes 
Funeral Home in Bakersville. Rose Wise, Ronnie Gouge and Randy Wise officiated. 
Burial was at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Cane Creek Cemetery. The family received 
friends from 6 p.m. until the service hour Tuesday at the funeral home.
