Raised in the Booneford community, she was the daughter of the late James and Julia Hall Presnell, and wife of the late Leroy Wilson. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Roy, Claude, and Raymond Presnell; and five sisters, Lillie Young, Lola Thomas, Nora Silver, Grace Riddle Thomas, and Sally Buckner Atwater. She worked for the National Defense Mica Program during WWII and later at the Government Depot. She was a housemother at Crossnore School and later worked for Blue Ridge Hearthside Crafts, Inc., where she served as a board member and promoted WNC crafts. She was a restaurant cook and some still talk about her chocolate and coconut cream pies, and her sourdough bread. A memorial service was held at 7 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Spruce Pine. Memorial donations may be made to The American Cancer Society, or to St. Jude's Childrens' Hospital.
