LINNIE WISE 

NEWLAND - Linnie Wise, 94, of Henson Creek Road, died Friday, Dec. 23, 2005 at 
Spruce Pine Community Hospital. A native of Mitchell County, he was the son of 
the late Bob and Nora Ledford Wise, and husband of the late Virtie Hughes Wise. 
He was also preceded in death by a son, Henry Wise; sisters, Rittie Lusk, 
Carrie Burleson and Lena Wise; and brothers, Aaron, Frank, Lee and Millard 
Wise. He was a retired farmer and a member of Henson Creek Free Will Baptist 
Church.

Survivors include a stepson, Samuel Hughes of Newland; three sisters, Lillian 
Buchanan and Lola Biddix, both of Spruce Pine, and Essie English of 
Bakersville; three step-grandchildren; and four step-great grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Henline-Hughes 
Funeral Home in Bakersville. Rev. Arthur Buchanan officiated. Burial was in 
Pittman Cemetery on Henson Creek Road. The family received friends from 1 p.m. 
until the service hour at the funeral home.
